Young Adults 2019 Update (end of Dec 2018 – Oct 2019)

Hello dear readers!!! 🙂 Time flew by so quickly, and I was reminded by dearest sister, Amie, that I have not updated this blog since last December 2018!! Praise the Lord for that reminder – here I am! I thank the Lord for His continuous hand of provision, protection, and guidance upon the Young Adults at PIC. I pray we can continue to be pleasing to Him and fruitful to His Kingdom! Here is an overview of all that has happened in 2019 thus far! Praise the Lord!

  • December 30th, 2018 – The Young Adults visited our dear friend, Ben, at the hospital. Ben got admitted to the hospital the Friday before, and our young adults visited him after church on Sunday. Thank you for the Lord’s hand of protection and healing upon Ben. We praise the Lord for Ben’s life!

  • January 10th, 2019 – Svetlana and Dima in town!! We are always so blessed to have Svetlana and Dima, who serve in Siberia, with the Young Adults at PIC. Praise the Lord for how He uses them to strengthen and encourage us!

  • Weekly Friday Night Fellowships – The Young Adults continue to have our weekly Friday night fellowships. We are studying from John Piper’s book, Don’t Waste Your Life, and have various other fellowship activities, such as testimony sharing, outreach preparation, singing of hymns, movie night, sport night, game night, BBQ night, bowling and more!

  • March 17th, 2019 – Excited to have our dear sister, Tasha, visit PIC family for the first time after moving to Japan!

  • March 30th, 2019 Outreach to Koh Si Chang Island Church. It’s always a joy to serve the church and children on the island! Our Young Adults led the children through: praise and worship action songs, a demonstration on Jesus being the light of the world, taking away the sins of those who believe in Him, as well as a craft on Jesus giving believers a new heart, and games! Praise the Lord!

  • April 2nd, 2019 – Our brother, Kosta, from AITCF and brother, Madiyar, visited the Young Adults at PIC! It was a big, BIG blessing to have our brothers!!

  • Sunday Lunches – Can I include our Sunday fellowship photos here too? 🙂 I know Sunday is not an exclusively “Young Adults” fellowship day, since it is congregation-wide, but there were so many “special” Sundays 🙂 Namely, brother Matthew and his wife, who serve at Castaway Ministries visited us on May 19th, 2019, brother Andre had a birthday surprise on June 23rd, 2019, brother Abozar had a farewell on June 30th, 2019, our brothers and sisters from AITCF visited us on July 29th, 2019, and Matt and Lauren had a farewell on October 27th, 2019. Since I’m already on the topic of Sunday fellowship, can I take this opportunity to post other Sunday fellowship photos as well? 🙂 What a joy! Praise the Lord for the family of Christ!

  • August 3rd, 2019 – Outreach at Teacher Boonchoo Home for Special Children Foundation. This was a very special outreach event where the Young Adults, along with our brothers and sisters from AITCF, led in the following activities at the home: praise and worship action songs, role play on forsaking our sins and coming to Christ, a craft on the lost sheep, and a game – musical chairs! It was a blessing and privilege to serve here alongside my brothers and sisters!!

Praise the Lord for His faithfulness!! Truly the Lord is good.

Psalm 145:9 “the Lord is good to all, and his tender mercies are over all His works.”

Psalm 34:10 “they who seek the Lord will not lack any good thing”.

Looking back on these photos, I’m in awe of the Lord’s deep love, provision, and protection. Thank you for your faithful prayers for all of our Young Adults, and the ministry as a whole. See you God willing in the next update!!

With love and blessings in Christ,

Anne

Young Adults 7 months update (June – December 2018)

Hello Readers :),

Looking back at photos of the last six months, I am in awe of the Lord Jesus’ wondrous hand upon the the Young Adults Ministry at Pattaya International Church. What a privilege it is to know and serve Him alongside my brothers and sisters in Christ! Here’s a recap of His awesome works this last six months, I pray for His hand of protection upon the Young Adults Ministry more and more, and pray these good works may bear fruit and multiply for His glory alone!

  1. June 9th, 2018 – Outreach at Koh Si Chang Island with AITCF Singles Ministry

What a beautiful day this was, where we joined together to lead the children attending Koh Si Chang Church in praise and worship, games, and crafts. Additionally, AITCF led a skit on the power of Jesus Christ to free us from the bondage of sin, followed by a message by brother Chat. Thereafter, we had an opportunity for fellowship over lunch. Later, we went to the beach to distribute tracks and sing praises in song to our Lord Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord for granting us safety and favorable weather!

2. August 4th, 2018 – Bowling

And of course, one of the young adults’ favorite fellowship activities is… BOWLING! Here we went out for a nice night of bowling. Surprise! We even won one free movie ticket by competing to get a strike by having Kenny blindly throw the ball under Abozar’s legs! Hurrah!

3. August 24th, 2018 – Young Adults finished our study on “Resisting Gossip” by Matthew C. Mitchell

The Young Adults continue to have our weekly Friday night fellowships! Our study on “the Sacred Search” by Gary Thomas was completed on June 1st, 2018. We then began our new study on the book, “Resisting Gossip” by Matthew C. Mitchell on June 15th, 2018. The message in this book is vital for church unity, and again so convicting and thought provoking. Praise the Lord for our weekly Friday fellowships where we can grow together in truth, and strengthen one another!

4. September 1st, 2018 – Outreach at Koh Si Chang Island by Young Adults at PIC

Praise the Lord! This was the start of the Young Adults regular outreach at Koh Si Chang Church, which is to occur approximately once every 6 weeks. This outreach was a great blessing, to see all of us serving together to lead the children in praise and worship, in games, and in the skit on original sin. The children on the island were interested and thoughtful in answering the Q&A after the skit for life application. May the seeds that are planted in these young children’s lives bear lasting fruit for our Lord now, and as they grow up!

1 Corinthians 12: 12 – For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.

5. September 28th, 2018 – Young Adults begin our new Friday study on “Don’t Waste your Life” by John Piper

We started our new study on John Piper’s “Don’t Waste your Life”. Praise the Lord, this study is so deep and convicting beginning from the first chapter. In addition to this study, we started to worship the Lord together in hymns prior to our study, which is so beautiful! Hallelujah for the blessing of weekly fellowship!

8. October 27th, 2018 – Outreach at Koh Si Chang Island by Young Adults at PIC

Great to be back at our island church on Koh Si Chang for our regular outreach! How beautiful it was to lead the children vocally in praise and worship, with actions, to the songs, “my God is so big and so strong and so mighty!” and “Thank you for the food we eat…”. We also led the children in games, and a craft based on the scripture, Psalm 139:14 – “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Praise the Lord!

9. Young Adults events for the month of December

Young Adults Events Update (Dec 2017 – May 2018)

Hello dear readers!

Over the past six months, the Young Adults at Pattaya International Church have had many exciting and, I pray, God glorifying activities that have been a blessing to us and those around us. I praise our Lord Jesus Christ for His hand of protection and blessing, and for multiplying His work in and through the Young Adults at PIC! It has been awesome and amazing to see His personal hand of involvement in this ministry. Let’s recap His awesome works in the past 6 months:

  • Christmas Carols: On December 10th, 17th, and 24th, 2017, our Young Adults sung a series of Christmas Carols which included: “Joy to the World”, “Silent Night”, “O Come All Ye Faithful”, “The First Nowell”, and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing” during Sunday service for our congregation. Together, we sung and gave thanks to the Lord for being born into this world! One particular verse, I remember, impressed upon my heart. It was from “O Come All Ye Faithful,” and sung:

All Hail! Lord, we greet Thee,
Born this happy morning,
O Jesus! for evermore be Thy name adored.
Word of the Father, now in flesh appearing;
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.

Yes, a happy a morning it was! and praise be to God we were able to adore and praise Him for being born into this world for the purpose of dying for our sins on the cross, that we may be reconciled and saved, and have eternal life by faith in Him as the Son of God.

  • Christmas Eve dinner: On December 24th, 2017, our congregation shared a Christmas meal together after Sunday service. I am cheating a little bit here, because this wasn’t exactly a “Young Adults” event per se, since it was an event joined by our entire congregation. Nonetheless, it was a blessed and precious moment, so I am recapturing it here :). What a wonderful memory! There’s nothing like sharing a Christmas meal with your family in Christ!

  • Weekly Friday Night Young Adults Fellowship:

We’ve been continuing to have our Young Adults Fellowship on Friday nights, going through the book, “The Sacred Search.” Recently, we went through the chapter, “How would Jesus Date?” Although Jesus never dated, he had rich friendships, with for example, Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. This gives us an insight on how He treated relationships.

Questions we thought about during the reading included, “Do we consider our friendships great enough that we put their interests above our own?” Many times, our culture hastily expresses our affection and “love” toward our potential mate without even really knowing them. Rather, the reading suggested that, the highest bond of friendship is actually personal discipline – doing what’s best for someone else no matter what. The higher the cost and sacrifice, the truer the friendship.

We contemplated on a tough question: when you see a friendship or romance just beginning to bloom, are you deliberate or impatient? Do you seek God’s face before you “explore” your feelings and discuss them? If your feelings are contrary to God’s will, they are, at that moment, irrelevant, if indeed Jesus is your God and not just your “friend.” [The Sacred Search].

It was an insightful and valuable read for us in making a wise decision for our marriage partner and allowed us to really challenge ourselves on a personal level as well.

  • AITCF Visit to PIC: On March 17-18th, 2018 our brothers and sisters at AITCF visited PIC, which was such a joy and encouragement to us all! Together, we were able to serve in outreach together at the Glory Hut Foundation, which is a foundation that helps the poor and the homeless, and provides home care for those infected with HIV. At Glory Hut Foundation, we sung songs of praise and worship to the Lord. The song “Trading my Sorrows” particularly touched my heart, and it was awesome to see our international churches singing the chorus, “Yes Lord, Yes Lord, Yes, Yes, Lord” together in Thai alongside those at Glory Hut Foundation. Praise the Lord! The song went:

I’m trading my sorrows
And I’m trading my shame
And I’m laying it down
For the joy of the Lord

And I’m trading my sickness
And I’m trading my pain
I’m laying it, laying it, laying it down
For the joy of the Lord

Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord
Amen

Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord
Yes Lord, yes Lord, yes yes Lord
Amen

I’m pressed but not crushed
Persecuted, not abandoned
Struck down but not destroyed
And I am blessed beyond the curse
For His promise will endure
That His joy is going to be my strength

Though my sorrows may last for the night
His joy comes with the morning

We also joined together in games and activities, and gave a message on the leper who was willingly touched by Jesus in love and compassion. The leper was immediately cleansed and healed, and saved by faith! It was a message that moved our hearts. Thank you PIC and AITCF for your contributions to the Glory Hut Foundation. May the Lord continuously bless His work at the Foundation!

After the outreach, we joined together for BBQ at Pastor Daniel and Marina’s house. What a wonderful and blessed time! My heart filled with joy to see Pastor Daniel and Marina’s house being filled and uplifted with songs of praise! How we enjoyed the meal together, and spending the night playing bible charades!

Wonderful fellowship with AITCF Singles at Pastor Daniel and Marina’s house!

On Sunday, March 18th, 2018 our AITCF brothers and sisters led our congregation at PIC in praise and worship! How awesome to lift the Lord’s Name on high together! We ended with a pizza lunch, parted with love gifts, and said farewell! It was sad to say goodbye, but we know we are always one in Christ! God bless you all!

  • Chaiyapruk Children Home Outreach: On Saturday, April 21st, PIC Young Adults joined AITCF Singles for an outreach at Chaiyapruk Children Home. Witnessing the life of Dr. Cleopandh Soorapanthu and Dr. Somsak Somsugdi in their sacrifice and love for the children, which arises from their love and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ was such an encouragement. It really made a long lasting impact on my life and others, testifying of how we surrender all to Jesus for His honor and glory and He will multiply His good work. It was awesome to see the children being so well taken care of. May the Lord bless the work at Chaiyapruk Children Home more and more! Thank you to PIC Young Adults and AITCF Singles for your contributions to Chaiyapruk Children Home! All Glory to God!
  • Bowling Night! Yes, us Young Adults at PIC do love bowling! After our Friday study on May 25th, 2018, we went bowling to also say farewell to Sauli, who will be going back to Finland. It was great fun!!! Friday nights with your family in Christ are always the best! 🙂

Witnessing the Lord’s work in this ministry over the past 6 months has been awesome and amazing. He is so good, faithful, merciful, and loving! He uses just our availability for the multiplication of His good work. Thank you for your continued prayers and support to the Young Adults at Pattaya International Church. We truly are so thankful and appreciate all of your prayer support! God bless!

Fellowship with AITCF (October 7th, 2017)

If you may recall, I had ended the last blog post referring to our upcoming road trip and God-ordained fellowship with our brothers and sisters in Christ at AITCF which was to take place on October 7th, 2017. We planned for this event about two weeks in advance, and can I say that all of us were so excited for the day that we were to finally see our brothers and sisters in Christ face-to-face at the AIT campus! Ironically, however, we were hit by a storm that morning! With some flooding, road blockage, and detours, our planned departure time was set back by an hour. Nonetheless, we were not downtrodden, and continued to look forward to the journey ahead of us. Praise the Lord! Ultimately, the storm subsided about half way into Bangkok and each car did have our own road trip amusements. Meaning that, the passengers of one car were completely wide awake and hyper: singing praise and worship songs, laughing, and talking all throughout our 3-hour journey to Bangkok, while the other car was…sleeping! To not embarrass anyone, I won’t reveal who the sleepers were… not in this blog anyways 🙂

Road Trip Car 2!

The journey turned out to be longer for some than others as one car got lost, which was to no surprise, my own. So we learned an important lesson which was that, being the driver of a car filled with sleeping passengers must be better than one with hyper passengers. Why? Less distractions while driving :). After taking a 30 minute detour, I was very thankful and relieved once we reached the AITCF campus. Below is our first photo at AIT with brother Kenny, who is leading the Singles Ministry at AITCF. Hallelujah, Praise the Lord!

First Group Photo at AIT! All Praise to our Lord Jesus Christ!

Our brothers and sisters at AITCF prepared a cozy room in one of the campus libraries to be our fellowship location. First and foremost, brother Kenny lifted up this gathering to our Lord Jesus Christ and had us recall how our God ordained the two ministries to come together on this October 7th, 2017. It all began in 2011 when AIT campus had been flooded. During this time, many from AITCF sought refuge at Pattaya International Church. We had the privilege and blessing of their fellowship for a couple of months and the relationship blossomed and continued from there by the Lord’s Hands! Fast forward to September 17th, 2017, brothers and sisters in Christ from AITCF joined us for Sunday service (if you recall from the pervious blog post). When they told me they were from AIT, I thought it sounded familiar and mentioned it to Sister Marina who then contacted Sister Marilyn and from then on contacted brother Kenny! All of these events were recalled and remembered from the beginning of our fellowship together on October 7th, 2017 – to remember the Lord Jesus’ mighty hand and God-ordained purpose in bringing us together! On top of that, both ministries had been praying for coworkers in Christ. Praise the Lord and Hallelujah!

From then on, our brother Chat from AITCF had us come together for praise and worship singing the beautiful song, “God of this City”. Trivia question: Where did this song originate? in Pattaya! (Click link for full story).  As the song goes,

You’re the God of this city
You’re the King of these people
You’re the Lord of this nation
You are

You’re the Light in this darkness
You’re the Hope to the hopeless
You’re the Peace to the restless
You are

There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God

For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this city

Isn’t is so beautiful, and makes us hope for the day of repentance and salvation in Pattaya?

Afterwards, we came together for fellowship lunch, further praise and worship, and then a campus tour! I praise the Lord for this fellowship and pray that it is only the beginning! Thank you so much AITCF Singles Ministry for the lunch, preparations, arrangements, and warm welcome in the Lord Jesus Christ. Something to look forward to: our brothers and sisters at AITCF plan to come visit PIC in November, God willing, so stay tuned! 🙂 Thank you in Him also to PIC for supporting all of the expenses related to this event and for your continued prayers! ❤

Young Adults Events (Past 3 months)

Hello readers!

It’s hard to believe that it has just been 3 months since, by the calling of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Young Adults Ministry at Pattaya International Church was established. He is a great God and He has infinitely blessed and multiplied His work in this ministry. So as to remember His works, acts of miracles, and blessings – this blog has been created to record the Lord’s work in this ministry and to be a source of encouragement to others reading this blog.

First Quarter Events:

  • June 18th, 2017, first fellowship lunch at La Nitivadee Dermatology & Aesthetic Laster Clinic: This first outing might have been a bit awkward for many, because this was the first time we came together as a group. But the ice was broken through two truths and a lie (how funny it was, that most of us couldn’t think of what to say for the lie!), and of course the pizza :). We had brothers and sisters attending from so many nations: Iran, Thailand, USA, Russia, Pakistan, Philippines, Malaysia! How amazing how the Lord unites us. Some of us even just came to church for the first time that day, or was just in Pattaya for a short vacation, but we were so blessed to have you all! Hallelujah and thank you Lord for this first fellowship lunch where we also discussed about the purpose of the group, future events and outreach activities.

Enjoying the fellowship and pizzas 🙂

  • June 25th, 2017, thoughts on scripture read & bowling at Central Festival: Right after church, we talked about the scriptures we had read through that week related to Christian love, spiritual gifts, and unity in the body of Christ. Afterwards, some of us joined for bowling at Central Festival! For some, it was even their first-time experience at bowling! Guess who won?!

  • July 2nd, 2017, Barbeque at Pastor Daniel and Marina’s house: This was also a first-time experience for many folks: BBQ on the grill. We were also greatly blessed by Paloma, our sister from the Philippines, who visited PIC for the first time! Guess who is taking the photo, see the reflection?? 😛

  • July 9th, 2017, homemade Chinese lunch at Kathryn’s condo: Our brothers and sisters in Christ cooked us a Chinese food lunch (homemade!). Some of us also joined to play Uno which I for sure did not win 🙂

Funny Faces!

  • July 16th, 2017, Orphanage Outreach at Father Ray Foundation: This was our first outreach serving together at the orphanage. Our sister Tasha led the kids in a game, followed by bible story time, and arts and crafts for the children. Toward the end, the staff also took us to see the orphanage house where one mom would take care of seven children per home. Thank you to the congregation for your donations, and everyone for serving together in the name of Lord Jesus Christ in this outreach!

Bible Craft on how each one of us are fearfully and wonderfully made by God! (Psalm 139:14) and how we are engraved on the palms of His hands (Isaiah 49:16)

  • July 22nd, 2017, we began our first weekly small group going through the book “The Sacred Search” by Gary Thomas. From then until now we have completed 9 chapters and have learned about the importance of seeking first the Kingdom of God in our relationships, how infatuation makes us stupid, really!, how we should be aware of our preferred relationship style based on who God made us to be (and not compromise!), and overall how we can make a wiser choice for marriage. This past September 22nd, 2017 our brother Max and sister Marina also joined to discuss about biblical dating (powerpoint attached: BICF – Dating according to the Bible_Feb 15th 2015!). This is such an important topic and we have been blessed greatly by this book and are growing and learning together so much! Not only that, but we also got to enjoy food from so many different countries: Pakistani, Iranian, Filipino food, and western :). This is also a time to throw back, relax, celebrate surprise birthdays and “celebrate” farewells such as to sister Phel who moved to Chiang Mai for Discipleship Training, and know one another more personally!
  • August 20th, 2017, Outreach at Glory Hut Foundation: This was such a most blessed experience for all of us! Our sister Charity led us in two Praise and Worship dances, one of the songs meaning comprised of how the Lord never changes even in our times of trouble or stormy days, He never changes. After, our sister Tasha led in “If you’re happy and you know it” game, followed by bible story sharing on Naaman (2 Kings 5). Sister Elisa and Nabeela shared their testimony on how the Lord healed them and their family, and Tasha led us in praise and worship song “Thank you Lord” by Don Moen. The Young Adults re-performed this song for our congregation the following week :). Thank you to the congregation for all of your donations to Glory Hut Foundation! I thank you everyone at Glory Hut Foundation who provided us such a warm welcome and were so engaged with all of the activities. God bless you!

Romans 12:5 5so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

  • September 17th, 2017, fellowship lunch and outing at Art in Paradise: This particular outing was intended also to be a farewell outing for our sister Tasha who will God willing move to serve the Lord in Japan in the coming weeks. We were so blessed to first have lunch with newcomers at PIC from AITCF in Bangkok! It was soo great to meet them and hear their testimonies in the Lord as well. Then, we went on to Art in Paradise, which was hilariously fun as seen in the photos below. Not only that, but people around were so intrigued by the diversity of our group. Praise the Lord of the testimony this group brings to others! 🙂

Brothers and Sisters from AITCF and friends!

Maybe we had too much fun taking those photos? 🙂

Speaking of AITCF, we will God willing be visiting AITCF on this coming Saturday October 7th, 2017 for a roadtrip and truly, God ordained fellowship with the Singles Ministry. Hope you can join us!

These past 3 months have been so surreal, and I’m so blessed to serve alongside my brothers and sisters in Christ, and visibly see His beautiful work in this ministry. It’s wonderful beyond words to see the younger people coming together to be a light in our generation. I thank Him for using us to multiply His works in Pattaya/ Thailand 🙂 God bless and stay tuned!

With love in Christ, Anne

P.S. Thank you Mohadeseh for sharing your handwritten journal entries of our activities these past 3 months with me. This helped me to write this blog!
